2027 Youth Composition Competition

Open to Queensland based composers aged 25 or under.

Calling all emerging Queensland composers 25 years and under. The Queensland Band Association invites submissions for an exciting new original work to be premiered by the QBA Youth Band 2027 at their Final Concert in Brisbane City Hall, January 2027.

This is a rare opportunity to have your music performed by one of Queensland’s leading youth ensembles, with $300 prize money awarded to the winning composer and a one‑on‑one mentoring session with a professional composer.

 Eligibility

• Open to Queensland‑based composers aged 25 and under

• Original, unpublished composition suitable for Youth Band performance (see brochure for details)

  Submission Requirements

  With each entry please include:

• Composer Details — Name, Home Address, Contact Information

• Score — Full score in PDF format

• MP4 Recording — Digital audio or MIDI realisation
