Promoting Your Band Online

Social Media1There are many ways that you can promote your band or organisation. This article will focus on the ways of promoting your band online with Social Media. You promote your organisation by showing or demonstrating your message, and reinforcing the things that make your organisation unique.

When considering promoting you band with Social Media, there are some important aspects to consider:

  • Which Social Media application/s suit your band;
  • The currency of the information; and
  • Who keeps the information current?

There are many forms of Social Media that could be used to promote your band. This article will focus on the most popular amongst Bands, which is Facebook.

Using Facebook, it is simple to create a Page dedicated to your Band. All you will need is some pictures and a brief description of your band and you are on the way!

To enable specific people within your organisation, to post information from the Page, you can give certain users ‘Admin’ status to enable this. Having multiple people who are able to do this within your organisation will help to share the efforts collectively across your team.

Social Media generally has no cost, however care must be taken when considering the many options with Social Media, as it’s important with Social Media that it remains current and is regularly updated. It is also important to remember that everything posted to your page is a reflection of your band, so remember that at any point someone could be viewing your page who may wish to become involved with your organisation.

Some bands that successfully maintain Facebook pages dedicated to their band are Maryborough Excelsior and South Brisbane Federal Band so be sure to check them out on Facebook!
