2020 Asia Pacific Band Festival - Information

Greetings from the Band Directors' Association (Singapore)!

We are pleased to invite you and your bands to participate in The Asia Pacific Band Festival (APBF) 2020 which is scheduled for 4th & 5th April 2020 at the Singapore Chinese Orchestra Concert Hall.

APBF aims to promote and cultivate wind ensemble music in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region, catering to the needs of bands of various levels and objectives.

There are 5 performing categories and participating groups can choose either the competing or non-competing option. The repertoire is free for all and the only requirement is that participating groups (except those in Category 1) must have at least one local element from their native country in their performance so as to encourage cultural exchange.

With the use of the newly developed AMBC's Automated Competition System, Bands will receive time marked comments from the adjudication panel which includes John Denovi from Drum Corps International, a governing body that provides standardized adjudication at sanctioned competitions throughout the United States and Canada; and Toshio Akiyama who is widely known as the “father of the Japanese wind bands”.

Besides the adjudication, the festival weekend will also have masterclasses, concerts and an outdoor Band Fiesta.

For more details, please refer to the attached information pack. We would appreciate it if you could share this with other bands who may be interested.

The registration deadline is 31st Jan, 2020. Feel free to contact us via email at info@bdas.org.sg for further enquiries.

Very best wishes for the new year and we hope you can join us!
