Farewells
The QBA sadly says farewell to four long
serving members of the management committee.
Noel Cassels – whose reputation for
service and dedication to the brass banding world is well known
– has retired from the position of President and is looking
forward to playing more golf and enjoying life with his wife,
Karen. Noel assures me that he will still ‘be around’, so we
wish him many relaxing days in the future.
Alan Trueman - another very long standing
member of the QBA, has held the positions of President and
Secretary for many years. He is devoting the next eighteen
months to studying for his Masters Degree but will still be
‘involved’ in banding through his band, Surfer Paradise Brass.
Gerard van Paassen - has been the
Treasurer of the QBA for the past five years and has done a
magnificent job in keeping our accounts through two National
contests. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours –
whatever they may be.
Pam Schryver - as we all know, has been
an untiring advocate for brass bands over many years and has
personally been responsible for putting together the
Metropolitan Bands Committee and ‘pushing’ the cause of brass
bands to the Brisbane City Council. Pam has worked on both
Nationals committees as well as the QBA and is also taking a
well-earned break to put her feet up and relax. She has been a
wonderful driving force within the QBA and we shall miss her
enthusiasm and inspirational ideas.
Welcome!
The QBA Management Committee welcomes three
new members
Brian Jessett (Maryborough Brass),
Josh McKechie (Brisbane Brass), &
Rogan Clancy (South Brisbane Federal).
It is great to see some new faces on the
committee and to have representatives from many bands.
